Life in prison made him conscious. He began to study religion, particularly Islam. He realized, perhaps Islam was the one who had been missed.

However, when he had started to embrace Islam, the war has not ended. He still had to convince him about the new religion embraced it. At this time, Eddie had had embraced Islam in full. He already understands the concept of Islam itself.

Islam, he argues, is Arabic which means surrender to the Creator of Earth and Heaven. Every man in this world gave his life for something, from his boss, money, women, fashion, and a variety of lifestyles. According to him, Islam is actually a great place to really surrender.

Islam is a call to surrender to the owner of everything on earth and sky. “Before I embraced Islam, I do not do that,” Eddie said in an interview with saudilife.net. He realizes that his life before converting to Islam is to live a fun, but empty, with no peace and quiet.

Then, Islam gave hope and a new purpose in life.
“I immediately prayed after I know the truth about Islam,” he said. To achieve the science of prayer and the intricacies of Islam, he claimed to have to learn constantly and a lot of comparing.

Although he has a family that had converted to Islam first, he saw they were only converted to Islam as a culture only, without fully understanding about Islam itself.

Today, besides being a presenter of The Deen Show, Eddie also manages a martial arts schools. He teaches Brazilian Jiujitsu.
